The prescription pharmaceutical products are the new and the changing face of drug consumption. A report from Boston Globe shows that officials involved in rehabilitation and anti-addiction programs have noticed a slight increasing trend in the number of drug addicts, who abuse anti-psychotics for dealing the sedative properties, which they contain. This is a matter of concern as these drugs have fatal side effects. Now, the trick lies in the fact that pharmaceutical companies are strictly prohibited from advertising their products, which are not FDA approved, and which are not deemed to be regarded as safe by them. However, the doctors have the discretion to prescribe any medicines to their patients, which they think will help the patients in getting cured. As such, it is seen that the marketing experts nowadays convince the doctors and not the patients to use these drugs and the doctors accordingly prescribes these drugs to their sick patients. With lot of movements in the medical fraternity along with legal enforcement, there has been a decrease in the quantum of gifts and other incentives, which were given to doctors by the drug marketers for indulging them in prescribing their prescription pharmaceutical products. Yet there is still professional indiscretion continuing. Those dealing with drugs hugely benefit from the use of prescriptive drugs, as they are covered under medical insurance, which mostly cover all the major expenses.
