Advancement of medical science takes place almost every day. Sensational results relating to the study of medical research are reported even before the research work is completely done. The clinical studies mostly provide important data for the creation of many drugs, which are capable of saving lives, and other medical treatments. But it is unfortunate that most of the trials fail to do this research. Lot of effort and medical research is involved in proving a certain drug or a medical method successful.

Studies reveal that longevity is not required for successfully proving a claim. This is due to the fact that any drug or medical technique is often proved ineffective, and sometimes it is a matter related to inadequate funding.  However, it is not imminent that a clinical research will help in manufacturing new drugs or medicines. It is, therefore, has to be kept in mind that medical research is an important part of advancement in the field of medicine.  For instance, if someone discovers a cure of a disease like aids, cancer or even diabetes, then it surely will be the output of long laboratory work and clinical research. There are also risks in this type of research studies which are undertaken by the participants, as these drugs or methods are not yet approved for wide use among humans.

In most of the cases, the drugs are generally tested on the animals, and thereafter, tried on other groups of human beings before getting the approval of FDA. Those who participate for the first time in these researches take great risks. However, the other groups of researchers have lower risks.
